Lead Mechanical Engineer

Experience: 10-15 years 

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive engineering innovation and solve design challenges in an exciting, fast-paced environment. Our work spans health and wellness, medical devices, connected devices, and consumer products, and this role will be an integral part of a small and diverse engineering team bringing impactful solutions to market. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will lead efforts to achieve project goals, develop mechanisms and internal architecture, and establish rigorous test plans for manufacturing support. This role will work directly with team members in design, project management, as well as client teams to deliver cutting edge products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Invent and integrate new mechanical concepts to meet client needs and specifications
  • Develop complex mechanical assemblies through DFM and production 
  • Work collaboratively and lead teams consisting of Industrial Design, Project Management, and UX/UI to define customers’ needs and deliver solutions
  • Own and deliver projects to key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to generate assembly documentation, prepare RFP/RFQ, continuously improve designs, and implement DFx
  • Create prototypes at varying levels of fidelity to prove concepts, de-risk development, and engage client decision-making 
  • Establish, maintain, and improve mechanical design infrastructure, processes, documentation, and resources at Loft
  • Design, build, and test fixtures to validate concepts
  • Supervise project team members to achieve goals on time and on budget

Qualifications:

  • Deep technical expertise in mechanical engineering and design (10-15 years of industry experience or equivalent)
  • Experience and proficiency with CAD tools (Solidworks preferred), documentation management/control, and GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards 
  • Self sufficient project leader with experience working across all stages of product life cycle
  • Creative mechanical designer - develop unique mechanisms to achieve design goals
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, agile, and fast-paced environment.

Bonus Qualifications in Medical Device Design:

  • Lead FDA submission efforts and guide clients through the process
  • Refine and grow quality management systems at Loft to align with ISO 13485 requirements
  • Experience with medical device requirements and development processes

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Experience: 5-10 years 

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Senior Mechanical Engineer to solve design challenges in an exciting, fast-paced environment. Our work spans health and wellness, medical devices, connected devices, and consumer products, and this role will be an integral part of a small and diverse engineering team bringing impactful solutions to market. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will prototype new product concepts, develop mechanisms and internal architecture, and establish rigorous test plans for manufacturing support. This role will work directly with team members in design, project management, as well as client teams to deliver innovative products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Invent and integrate new mechanical concepts to meet client needs and specifications
  • Develop complex mechanical assemblies through DFM and production
